I'm Cassandra G
I lost my sense of self while in a relationship with a manipulative and narcissistic person.
I did not recognize it during the process, but once it was all said it was done and I had to look at the damage, it was devastating. I did not know where to begin.
I slowly, but surely, found my way. It took a lot of deep digging, shadow work, processing, and forgiveness. I thought the hardest part would be forgiving the other person, but I made my way across that bridge.
Although I forgave them and found my happiness again, I still blamed, shamed, and guilted myself for allowing it to happen. I guilted myself for not paying attention to the signs and not leaving sooner. It was a damaging mental circus of self shame, which I did not realize was holding me back and preventing me from truly moving forward and being happy in life!
It was not until I began the process of forgiving myself did I finally feel lighter, self forgiveness was the final piece to my emotional and mental freedom. I extended grace to the version of myself who needed it rather than ridiculing her. She had already been through enough.
